Westminster ESC is located approximately 12 kms from the Perth CBD in the suburb of Westminster, which is within the New North development project. The ESC is one of three partner schools on site and caters for students with special needs in Years 1 to 7. The Centre was established in 1985 and since then has acquired a strong reputation for meeting the needs of special needs students through individual education programs and reciprocal programs with our partner schools.

All students have the opportunity to develop socially, emotionally and academically to their full potential through effectively engaging school resources and staff expertise.

We work closely with the other schools on site and cross set timetables so that reciprocal programs are offered to mainstream students with particular needs. The Centre provides a safe, friendly student focussed learning environment. The programs develop students' academic, social and recreational skills.

We have chosen AUSLAN for our Language Other Than English as it does not rely on reading or writing so all students can participate successfully.

In 2008 there are 20 enrolled students, plus a number of mainstream students who access the Mathematics and English programs during morning classes. Student attendance rates are high and surveys of parents and students indicate a high level of satisfaction with the ESC teaching and learning programs.

The Centre has a Principal, a Registrar and six teaching staff supported by ten education assistants.
