Muludja Remote Community School was opened in 1991. It is situated within Muludja Community, 35 kilometres east of Fitzroy Crossing. The community is situated on the flood plains adjacent to the Margaret River. It is 5km from Fossil Downs Station homestead which is situated on the other side of the river. The community was originally situated at Fossil Downs with the present site being established in the early 1990's. All the building in the community are raised above the ground. There are 26 houses in the community with an approximate population of 100 residents. The population, excluding teachers, is 100% Aboriginal. The first language is Kriol and the local language is Gooniyandi. Standard Australian English is the children's second language.

Muludja RCS is a Level 3 Primary School with approximately 20 students. The school has 3 classrooms, one of which has been converted into a library. There is a large office area, small staffroom and a wet area that all students can access. There is a large undercover area underneath the school building, basketball court, secured Kindy/Pre-primary play area and many grassed areas.

The school is staffed with a variety of personnel who all work collaboratively to provide the best possible learning environment for the acquisition and improvement of student outcomes. Current school priorities and focus areas are being developed as two or three year plans to create continuity and consistency in the School. This year our main priority, which is in line with the DoET priorities for Remote Schools, is the Aboriginal Literacy Strategy. In addition to this we are developing a strong focus on Number, Attendance, Student Behaviour and Community Partnerships. There is an emphasis on the collection of evidence based data in order to ensure that quality data is gathered, analysed and used to improve student outcome achievement.
