PRINCIPAL'S REPORT 2005 - TAKEN FROM ANNUAL REPORT

The 2005 school year was a good one for the Koorana Education Support Community despite the absence of Nicole Badham (Principal) and Sue Cotton (Registrar) in Term 4.

The School Development Plan, written by school staff and endorsed by the School Council in 2004 was implemented successfully in 2005. Curriculum priorities for the 2005 school year were:
* English - Reading and
* Health and Physical Education - Protective Behaviours.

Funds were allocated and training undertaken in these and other areas so that individual, group, centre and system targets were met. I would like to congratulate staff for their professionalism in undertaking training and managing learning areas. I would also like to acknowledge the efforts of the ESC Registrar, Mrs Sue Cotton (Term 1 to 3) and Mrs Cathy Fox (Term 4), who have supported the KESC community so effectively.

Parents/Carers are also to be congratulated for the support given to the ESC over the last year. Their input into Individual Education Plans, Individual Behaviour Plans, meetings, assemblies, excursions, fundraising and other activities has been much appreciated.

Thanks to the Koorana Primary School community who help to make the KESC experience so much richer. I would like to acknowledge the support and expertise made available to KESC by the KPS administrative team, in particular Mr Peter Thatcher. Thanks to the combined Koorana Schools' Council and Koorana Parents and Citizens Association for their ongoing support.

District Offices rate schools as to whether they are effective or ineffective. Fremantle/Peel District Office has confirmed that Koorana ESC continues to be in the effective category.

This report includes the highlights from 2005 and planning for 2006.
