| Emerald Secondary College is a co-educational school with a current enrolment of approximately 800 students. The College has approximately 80 teaching and non-teaching staff. The College can be found on the Belgrave - Gembrook Road, and is just a few minutes out of the main township. The College is situated in the picturesque Dandenong Ranges. The College draws on a wide area for its enrolments relying on a mixture of private and public transport to ferry students to and from the school. The College first came into operation in 1985 as a post-primary school catering initially for Year 7 students and extending beyond this level each subsequent year. The school is now a secondary college catering for students from Years 7 to 12. The College offers academic and vocational programs and it has a Careers Department that offers advice on a variety of pathways that students can take as part of their studies. Emerald Secondary College has a strong history of academic success with a high proportion of students being accepted into university or other tertiary institutions. At the same time, the College also offers an extensive range of vocational education opportunities including VET (Vocational Education and Training) courses, the Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) and Australian School Based Apprenticeships (ASBA). There has been a considerable expansion of our vocational education program in recent years. These vocational education programs combine school with TAFE and/or work placement. The proportion of our students gaining entry into tertiary places is well above the state average. All senior students and some of our other students in other year levels participate in the MIPS (Managing Individual Pathways) Program. We are proud of the way in which we prepare all students for life once they complete their secondary education. | ||||

| There are a few good things about ESC, such as some of the science and outdoor ed programs. | Many of the teachers have a way of discriminating against people for their right to express themselves in many ways. These ways include, Piercings (which if not doing a practical class are not a health risk), Hair colour and clothing style. | I think that if a few things were changed this could be a good school. Until them i say choose some where else! | ||
