| Boardwalk School opened on the first day of Term 1 2002, followed by Jamieson Way School opening on the first day of 2006. The development of this new educational community is fuelled by the commitment and enthusiasm of staff who provide a rich learning environment that caters for the whole child. Our college is motivated towards the development of good citizens who care about one another. We see the partnership between the parents and school as vital. The colleges philosophy and practice reflects a commitment to the individual development and personal welfare of all students and to a safe and caring environment. Statement of purpose In our unique, innovative and growing community we develop a passion for life long learning so that students achieve individual excellence and are confident, capable citizens of their local and global communities. The college uses the Victorian Essential Learning Standards and the Curriculum and Standards Framework II to provide a comprehensive curriculum at all levels encompassed by consideration for the personal, social and emotional wellbeing of individuals. The development of literacy and numeracy are priorities and programs have been developed to focus on these areas. An integrated curriculum approach in the Early Years ensures coverage across the three strands outlined in the Victorian Essential Learning Standards: Physical, Personal and Social Learning; Discipline-based Learning; Interdisciplinary Learning; and a trans-disciplinary approach using inquiry learning in the Middle Years enhances engagement for students at this stage of schooling across these three strands and associated domains. The main building at Boardwalk comprises of a Library; an Art/Technology area providing stimulation for Visual Arts, and provision for delivery of the Technology key learning area; a Gymnasium catering for indoor sports and activities; a Music area; a Canteen facility; and a Computer Laboratory supported by multiple data points in each classroom. A Science Laboratory, and a Home Economics centre support the delivery of middle years curriculum. A Music Centre, complete with rehearsal rooms is located within the grounds. There are 16 permanent classrooms set amongst landscaped grounds complemented by relocatables. There is an oval, two basketball/netball courts and a concrete assembly/play area. In conjunction with VicUrban, the grounds have been developed and include two undercover playgrounds. | ||||

| New facilities, central location within community | Experimental learning approach, referred to as "Transdisciplinary", fails to acknowledge that not all children absorb all the information they need in the class environment. Deeper level understanding, or "academic scaffolding" is not emphasised at this school. Almost non-existent focus on technology based learning. School lacks any credible arts programs. | The school exudes a disconcerting arrogance and refuses to allow parents to be involved in the 'structured' academic process, preferring parents focus on more conceptual academic linkages. This is very difficult to maintain when your child is struggling with certain fundamental 'core subject' principals where reinforcement through homework or repitition is clearly appropriate. | ||

| Great location Children love their teachers I haven't heard much about bullying They have a great before and after school care program | The grounds need a lot of work The introduction of P-9 wasn't thought out -too many partables -should have forseen the growth and built accordingly No homework until year 10 Homework should be introduced much earlier Uniforms should be compulsory and the length of skirts and dresses really need to be addressed | I think the school is trying to do the right thing across the whole system, but sometimes you need to look closer and see it from an outside view. I feel most people I speak to feel that their children are not exceeding but staying on ann even keel. | ||

| Close to home | Lack of communcation by school with parents. Extremely arrogant approach to parents. The school has quite a number of kids on the Autism Spectrum but does next to nothing to help them. A number of the teachers and the vice principle are willing to listen and learn from the parents of these kids, but have their hands tied by those in authority. | The schools philosophy regarding producing well rounded citizens who are committed to the public good (see above) is a complete fantasy. This is confirmed when walking through the grounds and listening to the foul language and bullying. My wife has been stared down by an 8 year old! | ||
