| Broadford Secondary College is located in the Broadford township, a short distance from the Hume Freeway, some 70 kilometres north of Melbourne. The population of Broadford is 3,500. The college was established in 1960. The main buildings still remain, with the addition of other more recent buildings such as the library and the technology buildings, built in 1999. The college has recently been granted 1.5 million dollars by the State Government for a new art building. The current enrolment is about 630, having risen from just over 500 at the beginning of 1999. The school community is very cohesive, the school council provides strong, positive support and there is a high level of cooperation between parents, community, students and staff. The school studies Japanese language and culture. Over the past ten years it has developed strong links with Katsuta Senior High School in Japan. The Mitchell Shire is also linked to Honbetsu, its sister city in Japan. | ||||
