| Balwyn High School is a co-educational school of over 1880 students in Years 7 to 12. It has a dedicated, professional team of 180 teachers and support staff. Established in 1954, the school has developed a rich intellectual culture. This culture manifests itself in an outstanding record of achievement that is proof of the excellence and leadership the school has offered to Victorian education. The relevance and strength of our tradition and culture is reflected in a heavy demand for enrolments, and a reputation that extends both interstate and overseas. Balwyn High School is accredited to enrol international students. The school provides a comprehensive, challenging, academic curriculum and encourages a strong work ethic. Positive work habits have consistently translated into outstanding VCE results that maximise students' tertiary education options. The general curriculum is well balanced and is structured with a strong emphasis on the use of learning technologies. Special opportunities are provided in accelerated mathematics, advanced studies in music and Languages Other Than English (LOTE), and a range of enrichment programs. Four languages other than English are offered (French, Chinese, Modern Greek and Ancient Greek), and we offer an English as a Second Language (ESL) program. | The excellent community environment it fosters, a wide range of extracurricular activities and encouraging excellence. Lots of new buildings with modern technology, friendly staff and wonderful student support groups | There is nothing bad about Balwyn High School, it is involved extensively in community activities, has numerous leadership opportunities and is very supportive of each student's goals. | Excellent school with excellent results, easily accesible with many external facilities near by. | ||

| Some good buildings, mostly excellent teachers, good resources, wide range of co-curricular activities. | No air conditioning or heating in about half of the school buildings, can appear daunting, squeezes every dollar it can out of students without appearing like laundering money and favours international students over local ones. | Mostly good, but needs to make many improvements. Just for the record, the above review was written by a staff member from the school, not a student like this one. | ||

| In some areas, good facilities, some very good teachers and close to public transport. | The timetable has 75 minute periods which are a strain on students, most classrooms are not air-conditioned or heated, there are quite a few teachers who have no idea what they are doing (no exaggeration), the SRC do not represented students adequately and the school tries to get as much money as possible out of students. | Overall, an average school that likes to over-promote itself (viz the first comment) and exaggerate itself. | ||
