By offering a broad curriculum, students are encouraged to achieve their full potential in the areas of academic excellence, the performing arts, sport, art, debating, public speaking, cultural pursuits and music. A comprehensive extra-curricula program supplements the School's program. Ballarat High School is committed to improving educational outcomes for all students in a caring and stimulating environment. Since 1996, the School has been a Specialist Sport School. In addition, the School is a participating member of the Ballarat Public Schools' Association and this provides opportunities for students to participate in a wide range of after school and weekend sporting opportunities. The Central Highlands Wimmera Region recognised the School's outstanding sporting achievements by awarding it The Outstanding Sport School Award for 1998 and 1999. The School offers Instrumental Music, both as a classroom and extra-curricula activity, and there are Year 7, Year 8, Intermediate, Senior and two Stage Bands. The School has a strong academic tradition, which is illustrated by the consistently high VCE results and the high success rate in gaining university places. Parents are encouraged to become involved with the School and join one of our active parent groups. The School Council, Curriculum Committee, Chaplaincy, Ladies' Committee, Parents' & Friends' Association, Boat Club and Music Support Group are all venues for parent participation and input into the School. | ||||

| They can be easy going. Some teachers are great. Very little however. | The teachers are ill-equiped. They are actually quite nasty at times. They have been seen in public yelling at students rudely. Most students are not happy there. | My son attends to this school. I hope been told by him and his friends they do not enjoy school. They only attend to get their VCE and to see their friends. I am actually in dis-agreement with the school at the moment. They have a Biology teacher who is literally not teaching them anything. My son and his friends are failing VCE and SAC's because of this. | ||

| Excellent facilities, strong teacher base. Very high sporting - only public school in the region to have a rowing department (National Champions 2009), consistantly rated highly in all sporting fields- and musical achievements - brilliant music department, known throughout Victoria and Australia. | Not too much to mention, but the teachers will make you work. | Great High School, the best public school in the Ballarat region. | ||

| Ballarat high is a safe environment and the teachers do not except laziness. I am a attending student to Ballarat High and it is the best public school in the region better then some of the privet schools as well. | The lockers are a older kind. | That it is an excellent school and I would encourage people to attend it. | ||
