| Yerecoin Primary School is situated 153 kilometres north east of Perth. Yerecoin is a Class Three Primary School and has a current school population of 29 students ranging from Kindergarten to Year Seven. The clientele is predominantly from farming families with the majority of students travelling to school on buses. Two bus routes service the school. One travels south and its route includes collecting children from New Norcia. The other bus route collects children east and north of Yercoin including children from around Piawaning. The school consists of a Junior and Senior class block, with a combined Library and Resource Centre. The Junior room is actually two rooms with the wall removed and contains a Rural Integrated Program. The picturesque setting of the school is a highlight of the town's landscape and the school grounds are meticulously maintained. The grounds consist of netball/basketball court, an oval, grassed areas and numerous landscaped gardens. The students' playground facilities include monkey bars, a fort, a slide and extensive climbing equipment. The majority of the playground equipment is under a shade cloth cover. New equipment for the older children has recently been purchased. Currently the school has two full time and two part time teachers. The school is also very well serviced with non-teaching staff of Registrar, Education Assistants, Cleaner, Gardener/Handy person and Library Assistant. One Education Assistant works full time while all other non-teaching staff have part time positions. The school usually operates as two classes, Kindergarten - Year 3 and Year 4 - 7. Our Kindergarten students attend for full days on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Students are offered a wide range of learning experiences. The school is ably equipped with information and communications equipment which is regularly utilised in classrooms and continually updated. A LOTE program in Italian is provided through Centra by the School for Isolated and Distance Education. Our library is particularly well stocked with many new acquisitions generously donated each year by the P&C. There is a bi-annual camp for Year 4-7 students. Each year students participate in swimming and athletics carnivals as well as specialist sports coaching clinics for tennis, squash,cricket, football, netball, golf and archery. Students also have the opportunity to participate in a Small Schools Music Feste. Yerecoin Primary School has a nine member School Council that meets prior to the monthly P&C meeting. The group is consulted for policy making decisions and assists with the school's annual improving and reporting process as well as canvassing the community for input on wider educational issues. The P&C is a very active organisation, which effectively supports the school with numerous activities. Yerecoin is proud to be a part of the Western Australian Government School System and is able to provide a first class education for all its students. | ||||
