| The vision of the Wanneroo Primary School community is that it will be highly regarded for its strong partnerships, creating an inclusive learning environment where all students are supported to achieve and successes are celebrated. In 2002, the Wanneroo Junior Primary and Wanneroo Primary School communities decided to amalgamate. Students, staff and parents then worked together to establish the desired ethos of the new school focusing on local identity, strong student - teacher - parent partnerships where teaching and learning are valued by all and agreed school values. A new fully air conditioned school, conveniently located within the Wanneroo townsite, was built which opened in September 2005. Wanneroo PS can accommodate 630 students from Kindergarten to Year 7, with provisions for a further 40 kindergarten students at the nearby Lake Joondalup Community Kindergarten. Students are drawn from a wide geographical area which includes rural lots to the east and north of the Wanneroo townsite, well established dwellings within the townsite, new housing developments bordering the townsite and two caravan parks. The school's very experienced and highly competent staf support and encourage all students to develop their individual skills through the provision of excellent learning opportunities. Students' academic performance, as measured through annual WALNA data, consistently reflects that of the state student population. Classroom learning experiences are complemented by excellent support and specialist programmes. These include physical education, music, instrumental music - brass and guitar - and a unique partial Italian immersion programme. Additional support is provided to teachers and students through access to a full- time support teacher, a part-time specialist Numeracy teacher through the Getting It Right programme and a Speech Pathologist through the Commonwealth Literacy and Numeracy programme. All classrooms have access to the internet and library through flexible use of both networked and laptop wireless computer facilities. The school has a safe, comfortable learning environment and processes in place to ensure that the agreed school values of - Respect, Tolerance, Self Discipline, Cooperation, Courtesy and Confidence - are regularly demonstrated by all members of the school community. | ||||
