| South Kalgoorlie was established in 1904 and has a rich history of individual and group achievement. Throughout the history of the school, staff have strived to provide a positive and supportive environment for all students to achieve to their potential. Though there are no original buildings, the school builds on the history through the students and the community. South Kalgoorlie is a level 5 school with approximately 600 students in attendance. A strong focus in the school is Numeracy and Literacy with teachers ensuring individual students are being catered for. South Kalgoorlie is a very inclusive school a diverse range of students in attendance. Teachers ensure that the student's individual needs are recognised and are catered for in the learning program being implemented. We have four specialist roles in the school, LOTE (Indonesian), Music, Visual Arts and Phys Ed. These programs offer the students a broad educational base that gives them vital skills for their future education. Special programs are run throughout the year that target students with identified talent in the specialist areas as well as in the academic field. Students are involved in many community events that instil pride in their school and portray a positive image to the wider community. We have won the St Barbara's Day Parade for five years in a row. Our School Choir has been successful in winning the school choir division of the local Music Festival. Students are actively involved in the Tournament of Minds competition where we send up to four teams each year to compete. The staff are young and enthusiastic with a strong emphasis upon collaboration and support for each other. The school is constructed with three teaching blocks and a Pre Primary/ Kindy area. The teachers collaborate through planning and team teaching. This adds to the feel of the school and promotes cooperation and support for both staff and students. There is a strong emphasis upon Pastoral Care with the students and we utilise our elected Student Leaders as role models for other students to aspire to. We have an active community with involvement through our P&C, ASSPA and School Council. They meet regularly to discuss fundraising and school policy issues. These groups are very supportive of the school and foster strong bonds between the school and community. We are in the process of a major building program that will see new facilities built that will create a richer learning environment for all students. South Kalgoorlie prides itself on the way staff and students work together to cater for the needs of all. It is a very supportive environment where staff gain valuable experience that enhances their professional development and ultimately benefits the student's educational gain. Give friendliness, gain happiness. | ||||

| It has a great school spirit | There is a status level in the school if you are a caring parent that can close your mouth your children will do fine, however if you chose to point out some room for improvement than your child will not be noticed for hard work or how much deadication they put in. | Your children will do well here if you follow all rules in section 2 | ||
