| Singleton Primary School Vision: Equity, Enterprise and Endeavour - providing all students with opportunities that empower them for success in a changing world.OVERVIEW Singleton Primary School opened in 1996 to provide an education service for the communities of Singleton, Golden Bay and Madora. As of term 1, 2006 enrolments are 67 Kindergarten students, 62 Pre Primary students and 551 Primary students with numbers steadily increasing. School facilities are outstanding with reticulated grounds, covered assembly area, purpose built Music and Art rooms and a modern canteen. The school grounds overlook a picturesque park setting with Harmony Lake as its centrepiece and is located less than 1 km from a beach which skirts Comet Bay. Singleton PS has adopted the stretch of beach between the communities of Singleton and Golden Bay as a focus for its enterprise and environment programs. Specialist and support programs allow for Music, Visual Arts, Physical Education, Library and LOTE [Japanese]. PEAC operates as a Specialist District initiative to which students in Years 5-7 have access. Central to the operations of Singleton PS is the vision of an enterprising learning community hence the school motto - Equity, Enterprise and Endeavour. The notion of enterprise is at the core of the schools priorities: ' Learning Technologies ' Teaching and Learning ' Students at Educational Risk Staff at Singleton are expected to: ' Integrate Learning Technologies into their classroom learning programs ' Implement the philosophy and principles underpinning the Curriculum Framework to create a learning environment that addresses the learning needs of all children ' Demonstrate a team ethos in working towards the achievement of optimum school performance ' Demonstrate a strong customer focus Staff members demonstrate a strong commitment to School Planning processes and are actively engaged on committees. The school is also committed to develop decision making in a participative and accountable model. The school fosters collaborative teaching and assures comparability in program delivery and monitoring of outcomes through strategies which see teachers openly sharing. It is expected that teachers demonstrate a long term commitment to meaningful, collaborative school improvement strategies. Staff are also expected to demonstrate their commitment to maintaining maximum flexibility of the schools organization. To this end the school: ' Is strongly committed to MAGS as an organisational and instructional strategy ' Encourages shared DOTT to enhance collaborative planning ' Has early closing on Thursdays to enhance collaborative planning ' Has a strong committee and shared leadership structure, providing opportunities for staff to develop their leadership skills The Singleton School Community is active and supportive, and staff are expected to foster the positive relationships evident. Students support the wearing of school uniform and many staff members have opted to wear a modified uniform too. School facilities are used by a number of community groups and a spirit of cooperation exists. | ||||

| Good kids Nice Community | Not parent friendly or wecolming Focus more on staff than students Facilities run down, oval uneven & unkept, play equipment outdated Too many demountable classrooms | needs fresh ideas and innovation with more focus on the needs of the students | ||

| Nice Area Nice duck pond nearby Kids are great Some good teachers | Agree with above, but would have to add on the state of the toilets are always disgusting... I don't think they are checked during the day.. there is rarely soap or paper towels and sometimes not even toilet paper - so much for teaching our kids about hygiene. | I personally do not think much of the school, a lot of my friends have taken their kids out and put them into the nearby private school or are on the waiting list to do so (me included)... | ||

| Sorry to say this but nothing | Where do I start, I went to watch my child's assembly presentation today, only to find that some 'bright spark' has decided to brick up the section of the undercover area where parents normally watch from, and then to top it off they caged in the other end with only about a 2 metre standing zone for parents. Needless to say I could not see a thing and missed my child's performance. So I agree with other poster. not a parent friendly school, maybe they don't even want us at assemblies anymore... What a Joke. | Thinking of approaching Comet Bay or Secret Harbour, both of which register quite well on this site and see if we can transfer | ||

| Singleton PS has many dedicated, hard working staff that have the students best intersts at heart. I have always found staff to be approachable, caring and friendly. The opportunity to participate in Wakakirri is highly sought after by my children. The assembly area is a tight squeeze but it is good to see it enclosed to stop the spate of vandalism. The fact that there are many demountables is not the schools fault - the government is responsible for building more classrooms and won't do it as the population will fluctuate (many young families will grow up one day). It is fantastic to see many students with special needs so readily accepted into the school community. The P&C are very active and supportive of our children. | A lack of space due to the large number of students it services. The oval is not in the best condition but perhaps the idiots that do burnouts on it can spare a thought for the children before they do more. Don't bag the school for things they cannot control. | Singleton PS has always been a fantastic school for my children. Perhaps people who complain should actually approach the staff to make their point, instead of anonymously complaining here - at least if the school is aware of your concerns they can take action. I have always found the school to be great and any concerns have been answered quickly and to my satisfaction. I would recommend this school to anyone who wants a strong community school. If you want better facilities, go to the new private school but if you want a good education for your child then Singleton is the place to be! | ||

| Singleton is awesome! There is a fantastic feel about the school. Staff are friendly, kids are respectful and friendly, standard of behaviour is always very high. | No fence around the school - hope they get one soon. | Great school, great community. Perhaps the whingers should go to one of the other schools. I would recommend this school to anyone (except whingers!). | ||

| I agree there are some wonderful and dedicated teachers at this school. | I am sorry but I would have to agree mostly with the first couple of posters. This is not a friendly school as is made clear by the comments of the last two posters, who suggest that anyone who gives negative feedback about the school are wingers and should go to another school, how is this for accepting constructive critism. | The purpose of this site is to give prospective families an honest insight to a school. again, the attitude of the last two posters who insulted the people who gave negative feedback on the school "wingers' and where they have implied are not welcome at the school. typifies the attitude of the school and the staff and the sort of attitude you would recieve from the staff if you did make a complaint. My suggestion to any potentional familes, come and look at the school yourself, talk to some of the parents waiting outside the classrooms at the end of the day, ask for a tour of the school and then make up your own mind. | ||
