| Sawyers Valley Primary School is located approximately 40km east of Perth and has a strong historical background. It is situated on an attractive semi rural site with grassed play areas, basketball/netball courts and features air-cooled class and specialist rooms. The current enrolment is 178 from K-Year 7. Approximately 57% of students are from other areas and the most common reasons given for this are Sawyer's Valley positive reputation for inclusivity, quality education programs, behaviour management and pastoral care. The staff are merit selected, experienced, highly collaborative and offer a high quality teaching and learning program. Specialist teachers provide programs in The Arts, Health and Physical Education and Japanese. Our specialist programs, such as Maths in Technology, Getting it Right (Science) Emotional Literacy (Values Education), all interlink to develop a holistic program, which integrates with the eight learning areas outlined in the WA Government Curriculum Framework. Students have access from all classrooms to a Local Area Network, e-mail and the Internet. Pastoral Care is conducted through various activities under the umbrella of the Emotional Literacy Program expanding resilience and developing appropriate community values. Special interest groups provide enrichment programs for students identified as talented and gifted and 15% of students access the Swan District Gifted and Talented Centre. Similarly, 10% of our children receive assistance in areas of need through Individual Education Plans and the mentoring provided by the School Volunteer Program. Sawyers Valley Primary School is a focus early childhood school with various programs designed to provide early intervention for students as well as empowerment for parents, such as SEED (Sawyers Early Education Dream), FAST (Families and Schools Together) and Roots of Empathy programs. Swan Valley Primary School has received a National Literacy and Numeracy Award, Commonwealth Boys Lighthouse Education Project Grant and was recently chosen as one of five WA schools to participate in a national Science and Literacy integrated program through the Department of Education Science and Training and the Australian Academy of Science (Primary Connections) Our school is the heart of our small community and members are heavily involved within the school through the School Council, P & C, Facilities Improvement and Sports Committees. Parents are regularly found within the classrooms extending the learning of the students and working collaboratively with the teaching staff. The students enjoy strong camaraderie through the wearing of school uniform, the regular Friday celebration assemblies, the school song, school choir and our vibrant community spirit. Our school is the only WA institution awarded 'Courageous and Inspired Community' award from NAPCAN | ||||

| small semi rural schook where everyone knows everyone else. Staff work collaboratively to ensure all students achieve. School has a diverse population from 14 different localities and is inclusive of children with specuial needs. Parents are welcomed to be involved in anyway they wish. | Lack of administrative facilities e.g. purpose built sick room. Parking - more needed | A wonderful caring, community centred school which is highly popular amongst hills residents for its excellent teaching. | ||
