| Hainsworth Primary School is located in the suburb of Girrawheen approximately 20 km from Perth's CBD. The school has views to the Darling Range in the east and ocean glimpses to the West. The student population is around 110 with ample learning space and play areas. The school is air conditioned, has playground equipment for Junior and Senior students, is carpeted, has set areas for the use of liquids (wet areas) and has computing facilities on site. A strong partnership with the school community and the development of a united 'Learning Community' is a central focus of the school. This idea promotes life-long learning as a core activity for all stakeholders. To this end the school has commenced a 3 year old play group on Thursday mornings called 'Pathways to Hainsworth'. This is a jointly funded program with the Smith Family, Mission Australia and the Department of Education and Training. Student classes operate from Kindergarten (4 year old) through to Year 7 (12 year old). Hainsworth Primary School has a rich cultural diversity with approximately 20 of our students from backgrounds where English is the second language. Students with cultural backgrounds from other Asian countries, southern and eastern Europe make up the majority of the remaining population. Approximately 28 of the students in the school are of Indigenous origin. The teaching and learning program at Hainsworth is built around the understanding that students learn at different rates and in different ways. The school's student services include a Community Liaison Officer and a School Chaplain that promote the whole school values program. There is a growing band of volunteers, mentors and parent helpers that support a professional and hard working staff. In addition to the core programs the school provides Students at Educational Risk support and Primary Extension and Challenge groups. The school's Getting It Right - Numeracy strategy, assists the Learning and Teaching focus. Educational support facilities provide a combination of withdrawal and mainstream inclusion for students with disabilities and learning difficulties. Teacher pedagogy and classroom management strategies aim to address the needs of student learning and social interaction in a dynamic and stimulating environment. Specialist programs include Art and Information and Communication Technology, Spanish LOTE, Aboriginal LOTE and Cultural Studies. Parents and prospective students are invited to attend the school to meet staff and other students in a friendly and academically engaging learning community. | ||||
