Roebuck Primary School is located in the growing regional centre of Broome approximately 5 kilometres from the stunning Cable Beach. Established in 2000, Roebuck Primary School is situated in Roebuck Estate, a new development in Broome and was Western Australia's first regional 'school in houses'. These houses were meant as a temporary measure whilst the estate and surrounding areas were being established with a permanent school site adjacent to the existing school oval.

As the estate and surrounding areas have grown over the past 5 years, so too has the population of students at Roebuck Primary School, opening with a total of 75 students in 2000 and growing to 432 students in 2007. The school draws from a diverse demographic with a large percentage of families in government employment and the One Mile Aboriginal Community situated to the east of the school.

Due to the rapid growth of the area and hence an increase in student numbers, the building of the new school began in 2003 . In the first phase of building the Administration and staff facilities were completed as well as the Library, Undercover Area, 3 general classrooms and a purpose built Early Childhood Centre. The K-2 students moved into their new classrooms. The second phase of building included 10 general classrooms and purpose built art and music facilities. The remainder of the school moved onto the new site to begin second semester 2005.

The building of the new school was a joint project of consultation between the Department of Education and Training and the school community and has produced a high-class education facility, which takes into account the existing environmental conditions and cultural aspects.
