| River Valley Primary School is situated in the small town of Burekup, approximately 20km north of Bunbury, on the South West Highway. The area is predominantly rural, with a few dairy farms, some small orchards and a number of small holdings. The school opened in 1999 as a result of the amalgamation of the former Roelands (established in 1903) and Burekup (established in 1913) Primary Schools. Student numbers, K-7, have been around the 100 mark each year. Generally, 4 classes are formed, with support teachers available to assist in the both the Junior Primary section and the Middle/Upper Primary section. Most graduating students have chosen to access their secondary schooling at Bunbury Senior High, with a few choosing Australind Senior High. A bus service to both schools is available from Burekup. In its 6 year existence, River Valley Primary has established an excellent reputation in the Bunbury Education District for its academic standards, pastoral care and strong values base. Such is this reputation that in 2004, approximately 30b0of the student population travelled to the school from outside of the nominal boundaries. Amongst the education students at the Bunbury campus of Edith Cowan University, River Valley Primary is known as 'Happy Valley'.
