SPECIAL FEATURES
Rangeway Primary School is a well-resourced school having benefited from the financial support provided through the Commonwealth Literacy Project, Aboriginal Education Grant and the Aboriginal Student Support and Parent Awareness funds. Literacy, Numeracy and Social Skills are the school priorities and the funds from these projects are directed at addressing the students needs in these areas.

The school operates on a collaboration timetable model, which facilitates teachers of similar year levels having DOTT at the same time and hence collaboratively planning the teaching and learning program.

A Bully Buster Program, utilising ideas from 'Friendly Kids, Friendly Classrooms', Bill Rodgers and 'The Games Factory', has been very successful at reducing the effect of bullying. The Social Skills priority has continued the focus on getting on together, co-operative learning, building self worth and resiliency.

SCHOOL DECISION MAKING
The school operates with a School Management Council consisting of 5 parent representatives, 3 staff representatives and the Principal. There is both a P&C group and an Aboriginal Parent group, where information regarding student education, school operations and parent support are discussed. Staff are kept well informed through daily notes, a weekly memo, weekly sub-school meetings and two whole school staff meetings each term. Staff are encouraged to be involved in participative decision-making and opportunities are created for this to occur. Broad based ownership of ideas and strategies is aimed for.

MAJOR DIFFICULTIES
Rangeway Primary School is classified as a difficult school. Considerable resources both time and materials are used to address students behaviour. A specific democratic Managing Student Behaviour Policy is enforced with an emphasis on positive incentives, proactive management and creating a safe and happy school environment.
