| Queens Park Primary School is a small, friendly school with a student population of approximately 150 students ranging from Kindergarten to Year 7. The student population is made up of a diverse range of backgrounds and has been characterised by a high transient rate. Centrally located between Welshpool Road and the Perth/Armadale Rail line and approximately ten kilometres from the CBD, Queens Park Primary School was established in 1905 as Woodlupine School in a nearby community hall. It was relocated to its present site in 1906 and renamed Queens Park Primary in the 1920's. At its peak Queens Park had approximately 600 students, this has declined steadily however with the redevelopment currently being undertaken through the suburb it is anticipated that student numbers will increase. The staff are dedicated, compassionate professionals with a balance of recent graduates and experienced teachers. Non-teaching and teaching staff are committed to providing an educational program that is relevant to the individual needs of students. The school motto 'Strength through Knowledge' is the focus for providing a curriculum that will assist students to make positive contributions to society in the future. The curriculum focuses on developing self esteem, decision making skills and students taking responsibility for their choices in life and their learning. Pastoral care programs play a vital role, and in conjunction with well established, consistent student management processes, form the basis for a caring and supportive learning environment. Small but dedicated groups of parents form an active School Council, Parents and Citizens' Association and A.S.S.P.A. Committee. These groups have formed a strong bond with the school and provide additional support and assistance through financial aid and individual expertise. The P & C provide a valuable service to the school through the canteen. This year a committee has been formed to plan for the school's centenary celebrations to be held in October 2005. You are invited to contact the Principal or Registrar for further information on current programs and projects. | ||||
