| Pannawonica Primary School is located in the Western Pilbara over 1400 kilometres north of Perth. It is a modern and well-resourced school located in attractive and well-maintained grounds. The school supports Pilbara Iron employees and those working in town services. Recent capital improvements to the school have been financed and managed by Pilbara Iron and illustrate their commitment to improving learning opportunities in the town. Being a small and remote community, there is a strong focus on collaboration and communication both within the school and the town - a characteristic emphasised by the community's coherent response to seasonal cyclones. Both the school and town pride themselves on being safe places for young families. The town speed limit is 40km/hr and the streets, town pool and school play areas are dotted with kids playing, riding bikes and engaged in activities such as the Swim Club, Auskick, Have-A-Go Cricket and the Youth Club. This level of community involvement serves to encourage success and positive relationships within the school. Pannawonica Primary School supports approximately 120 students, including seven high school students who are housed in the newly completed SIDE building.
