| Ocean Road Primary School is a new school, which commenced operation at the beginning of the 2001 school year. Ocean Road PS is located in close proximity to the seaside as well as the Harvey Inlet settlements of Dawesville, Melros, Bouvard and White Hills. The catchment includes Lake Clifton, Armstrong Hills, Parkridge, Mt John and Herron Point estates. Many estates are undergoing extensive expansion with new residential and rural subdivisions moving into the market to cater for growing demand. A majority of the families are owner tenants who have selected the location because of its marine attributes, rural flavour or merely to be partly removed from the urban routines. The socio-economic profile is above average and the population is relatively stable. The existing community reflects strong, family values, seek active involvement in local issues and have an obvious interest in providing their children with wholesome lifestyles. The community has had a strong influence in the direction of this school from the onset and has a genuine interest in actively supporting the school to provide the highest quality education for their children. The parent community shows a great deal enthusiasm for the new school with many perceiving the school to be a favoured location. Ocean Road Primary School opened with approximately 300 students with the capacity to accommodate and Education Support Centre when numbers warrant it. Children living south of the Dawesville Cut have previously been bussed to Falcon PS and are now re-directed to Ocean Road. Facilities in the school include an Administration block, 12 x classrooms, 3 x Education Support rooms, 2x Pre-Primary Centres, 1 x Kindergarten (4 Year Old) Centre, Art room, Music room, Under Cover Assembly area and school oval. Growth is expected to continue for some years to over 600 students and forward provision has been made for a private school and high school to be established in the longer term. There is a well-established environmental/outdoor perspective among local Communities and this is strongly integrated into curriculum studies. Parents exhibit a high interest in educational developments and the social interaction of students. There has been a significant investment into establishing an outstanding technology facility within the school that has become an integrated component of the curriculum as well as a professional tool for staff. Ocean Road prides itself in pioneering innovative and cutting edge educational programs. Bounded by clearly defined natural geographic features, the school has built a unique sense of identity and to offer new innovative perspectives for educational developments in this region.
