| Nungarin is a small farming community situated approximately 270kms from Perth in the Central Wheatbelt. The main industries in the area are wheat farming and tourism, with the town of Nungarin boasting an impressive museum and outstanding sporting facilities. The school is an attractive building set in the centre of the township. The school was established on the current site in 1913 as a classic two-room country school. A third classroom was added in the 1950's, with an administration block added in the mid 1980's. The school has been extensively refurbished to accommodate the latest technology including upgrades to the power supply, a new roof, and beautification. The school grounds are maintained by an outstanding school-based cleaner and gardener and are an attractive feature of our school. The school is the largest non-farming employer in the town, with 11 staff members. The teaching staff comprises the Prinicipal, two full-time teachers and a further part-time teacher in a support role. Our school also has a Registrar, School Officer, 3 Education Assistants and a Cleaner and Gardener. The student-staff ratio allows for flexible timetabling and the development of close working relationships to improve student outcomes. The School Council meets at least once per term and performs a pivotal role in many areas of school management and operations. Due to the community pride in Nungarin, the School Council is an effective and positive contributor to both the educational and social goals in the school.Principal Aaron Chaplin | ||||
