| COMMUNITY: The school is located in a very green and attractive environment surrounded by the nearby hills of the Karijini National Park. The student population of 250 ranging from Kindy to Year 7 at North Tom Price Primary School has an itinerant nature, with the majority of students attending either their second, third or fourth school. Families come from throughout Australia and New Zealand, and there exists within the school community a significant number of Torres Strait Islander families. The majority of families are employed by Pilbara Iron at either the Tom Price or Marandoo Iron Ore Mines. A great number of these are involved in 'unskilled' positions. Decisions made by the company have a direct impact on the morale and nature of the school community.STAFFING: The average length of service at the school by administrators is two years while for teaching staff this would be three years. The school has many experienced support staff and the experience of teachers vary from graduates to those with ten year plus.SPECIAL FEATURES OF THE SCHOOL: The school has a new purpose built Library. It has an undercover area and four wet areas.SCHOOL DECISION-MAKING AND CONSULTATION PROCESS: The school has a small but committed P & C and parents are keen to participate in the School Council, and on the Indigenous Parent Committee. | ||||
