| Nollamara - 'Progress with Pride' 2007Nollamara Primary School is located approximately 7 kilometres north of the Perth Central Business District and is part of the Swan Education district. The school was built in 1956 and is in the old U configuration. We have one demountable and two transportable buildings. Nollamara has excellent facilities to cater for the students educational social and physical needs. The school has large well planned classrooms, and large ovals for general play and sports. We have basketball courts, tennis courts and cricket nets. All classrooms are air-conditioned. We have new under cover area and a new canteen. We also have a well stocked library. The large school grounds provide students and teachers with abundant room to engage in a variety of sporting activities during play periods. We are a part of the '100 schools Project' which means we have three networked computers in each classroom, offering email, intranet, internet and Microsoft suite facilities. Classroom IT is supported by a pod of computers in the information resource centre. We also have a pod of laptops that are connected through wireless connectivity. At Nollamara we recognize and value the cultural diversity of our students. Nollamara has an on site an Intensive English Centre (IEC) consisting of 100 children. This began in 2005. They are here as Phase 1 and 2 learners. We cater for all refugee status, 457 visa children. Due to the large number of diverse cultural backgrounds of the community we have a large proportion of English as a Second Language (ESL) students. We currently have 23 indigenous students. Both the IEC and the main school are fully integrated and work in harmony. Nollamara Primary School is a Level 4 school with a student enrolment of 272 and caters for all children from Kindergarten to Year 7. The classrooms have been re-carpeted and painted in 2006. We have just had a new office block, disabled toilets and children's toilets rebuilt. The off-site kindy has come on-site in 2006-2007. STAFFING Nollamara maintains consistency of experienced staff with the majority of staff having worked at the school for five years or more. Staff at Nollamara demonstrate commitment to each child's right to access the curriculum and the right of each child to learn in a positive learning environment, which caters for the educational needs of the individual.
