Compare with all other primary schools.
Neerigen Brook Primary School was first opened in 1970 and is located in the centre of Armadale. There are three clusters with nine primary classes, two pre primaries and a kindergarten all on the one site. The junior block has large classrooms with functional wet areas and a fantastic, fully enclosed playground including an undercover area and three undercover play areas. The intermediate block has a well equipped art room and science resource area. The senior block houses a kitchen for cooking lessons and a gym/activity room. The school also has a newly refurbished computer lab which is networked to computers in all the classrooms. A dental therapy clinic operates from the school and a canteen operates under parent control.
The vision of the school is 'All Different, All Equal'. This means that all students develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to achieve their individual potential and contribute to society. The teaching and learning achievements, attitudes and well being of every student, matters.
Neerigen's teaching staff are dedicated to catering for the needs of their students and are ably supported by highly qualified/skilled education assistants. Included in the staff, Neerigen Brook has a GIR Numeracy specialist, a drama teacher and a sports specialist. The school provides students with a variety of educational programmes including: a choir, a recycling programme with a worm farm, a jewellery making class (GEEP), hands on creative classes for boys (BEEP), piano and guitar lessons and an after school club.
Neerigen Brook has a strong values focus. We use two programmes to promote positive behaviour in the school, TOD and BUZ. Treat Others Decently (TOD) is based on values taken from 'Friendly Kids, Friendly Classrooms' and Build Up Zone is a weekly lesson programme teaching explicit values. BUZ posters have been displayed around the school focussing on: problem solving, conflict resolution and bullying. At each fortnight's assembly TOD bear gives out a special TOD award to a child from each class who has displayed the focus value and a BUZ award to the class which has best demonstrated an understanding of the focus value.
The school offers a variety of services to students and their families in addition to providing a full education. This includes: a visiting child health nurse, a free social worker, free counselling for children and adults and free adult tutoring. Neerigen Brook has two playgroups and a reading playgroup for 0 - 4 year olds, run in a purpose built Early Play Centre. The playgroups are headed by a qualified childcare worker and the school's Aboriginal and Islander Education Officer.

Overall:
Staff are friendly and listen to parent concerns. Support networks offered and after school club. Also fees are lower than most schools in the area. Support classes offered to students at risk are well organized.Buildings look dated, but are functional. Just like Challis PS. Gardens need to redone. Steps to the PACMAN building would be good. Also redoing parking lines.Well managed school. Offers lot of local support to the community. Happy to send my children to this school.

Overall:
the support the students get is wonderful. They have modern Technology. All classes have Electronic whiteboards. Have new undercover area with new canteen. Alot of support for families and activities during the day and afterschool. Not alot of parking on Classroom side of school. Buildings look old from the outside, but it is same at other schools in the area that old.Very good school, would recommend people send their children there. The support we've received has been wonderful, including for a student with a disability.
