| Morley Primary School is situated in the heart of the Morley suburb. The school is located in pleasant grounds with ovals, play areas and equipment for all age levels. There is a Pre-primary centre on site. There are sporting facilities - tennis, basketball, netball courts - hard and 'beach' volleyball courts. Morley has a diverse cultural clientele with approximately 40a0of students coming from a non-English speaking background. We have an ESL teacher two days a week to help students with language difficulties. We also have full fee paying students. For the last 17 years the school has offered Mandarin lessons for Years 3 - 7. Each year the senior pupils have entered the Mandarin Speaking Competition as part of Chinese Teachers Association presentation. In 2006 Morley was the top school with a 1st and 2nd placing in Year 6 and a 1st place in Year 7. There is also an annual Panda's Picnic where schools have an intergrated day. For the last 14 years the Interschool Athletics has been held at the School site. Many successes have been achieved by the school. This year 10 schools took part in our annual volleyball carnival which has been held here for the last 15 years. This has been very popular with schools marking their calendar for this event in which the Year 7 'leavers' participate. there is very little movement of staff, which means we have a very experienced staff who enjoy the small size of the school and its facilities/amenities and surrounds. There is strong community support in the school with some parents being ex-pupils of the school. It is a level 4A primary school with one deputy principal. We have an education support class with a full-time class teacher and education assistants either for individual pupils or class support. The teaching staff have cost centre responsibilities/representatives on Finance and School Council Committees. Parents involved with P&C meetings, School Finance Committee and School Council. The original classroom (now canteen) was built in Walter Road in 1934. It was later re-located to its current site. (It has now been designated as 'semi heritage'). A plaque has been placed to commemorate this happening. The main school building was established in 1951. | ||||
