COMMUNITY
Little Grove Primary School commenced operations in January 1997. The area around the school is made up of a combination of suburban sub-divisions of Little Grove/Goode Beach and small rural lots ranging from 1 to 20 hectares. The proximity of the school to Princess Royal Harbour is a unique feature of the school. Despite its closeness to the City of Albany,
Little Grove is perceived to have its own identity. The parents of students
attending Little Grove value education and are prepared to support the school to achieve the best possible outcomes for their children. This
support not only entails fundraising initiatives but also involvement in the
classroom working with teaching staff.

The community was a driving force in getting a school built in Little Grove and as a consequence it is seen as an important community asset that is valued by all members.

STAFFING
There is a wide range of experience within the staff. Most have taught at various locations and a number have worked at a District Office level. The length of time staff have spent at the school ranges from one to ten years.

Currently we have staff working in the specialist areas of physical education, library studies, music, LOTE (Japanese), literacy and information technology
Deployment of staff is typical for a school of this size, Level 4A. There is a Principal and a Deputy Principal that are promotional positions. Many
leadership opportunities are provided for staff who are encouraged to commit. These opportunities range from undertaking cost centre manager roles, becoming a member of various school committees, school council and special projects associated with school or system priorities.

Support staff within the school are an integral part of the team. Support staff have major roles in the office administration and supporting teachers in the classrooms. The ethos of school practices promotes a team approach where all staff are seen as contributing to the achievement of outcomes for students.

SPECIAL FEATURES
Little Grove Primary School enjoys excellent facilities that would be expected from a Government school. All teaching areas and the library are computer networked so that any student can access from a work station their own file from the main server.

The school enjoys a specialist art room with a kiln, a music room, a library and an undercover area. There are also excellent grassed areas and hard court facilities for sport and physical education.

Teaching areas are formed into clusters with a common prac space with a sink and cooking facilities.

SCHOOL DECISION-MAKING
Little Grove has a School Council and Parents and Citizen's Association. Both organisations have important roles in ensuring that school directions are meeting the needs of students.

At a school level there are threecommittees. These are:
1. Finance; it prime responsibility is to manage the budget and to approve expenditure including applications for staff wanting to attend professional development.
2. Information Technology; oversees technology development and application in the school. This encompasses both student and administrative work areas.
3. Curriculum; ensures the identified school priority areas are being implemented. The committee does this by being responsible in organising appropriate professional development and generating the agenda for school development days.

GENERAL
Little Grove School is an important part of the community and enjoys strong support and ownership of all residents. The environment of the area is pristine and the schools proximity to the harbour is a bonus. As a consequence students attending the school are motivated to learn and engage in activities. Also the values the children bring to school ensure that behaviour and civic pride is of the highest order.
