Compare with all other primary schools.
A vibrant, family atmosphere exists at Leeman Primary School as staff know every child and family personally. With only 70 students and an extremely dedicated staff, students and parents have the opportunity to build relationships with every staff member. Class sizes are relatively small, 22 students per class is the average. The school is staffed with experienced staff members. Special needs students are an integral part of the daily program and are catered for within the classrooms.

Specific programs have been created in consultation with the community, to meet students' needs. They include:
'The Best Start' early intervention program (Kindy - Year 3). This program focuses on the development of early literacy skills and concepts and assists in the identification of potential problems. The program is well resourced and is supported by a speech pathologist, occupational therapist and school psychologist.
The Whole School Fitness Program encourages students to increase their fitness levels as well as their athletic ability. An outcome of this program is that Leeman Primary has been extremely successful in interschool sporting events.

Community members volunteer their time to raise significant funds for the School through a school tuck shop, community newspaper and the co-ordination of an annual 'Gala Day'. A recent Gala Day raised $8, 000. The 'Volunteer Program' also encourages the involvement of seniors. Often the division between the school staff and community members is blurred as many staff members are foundation members of the community.

The School draws its population from Leeman and Green Head, coastal towns with populations of approximately 600 and 300 respectively. The towns are 15 kilometres apart, with Leeman situated 300km north of Perth. The towns owe their origin to the cray fishing industry though more recently, have grown due to the mining of mineral sands by Iluka at Eneabba 38km to the east. Many families choose to live on the coast and commute to Eneabba. The employment of mining contractors and the nature of the cray fishing season makes the population fairly transient. On leaving Leeman or Green Head families often comment on the wonderful experience their children have had at Leeman Primary School.
