The Lancelin Primary School is situated on the coast 120 kilometres north of Perth. The school caters for children from the town of Lancelin and the surrounding communities of Seaview Park, Ledge Point, Ocean Farms, Seabird and Redfield Park.

The school opened in 1960. While the original school now houses the pre-primary, additions to the school have included a four-classroom teaching block and a purpose built library resource centre which opened in 2002. Other features include a covered assembly area and well maintained ovals and gardens. The school caters for about 130 students from Kindergarten to Year 7.

The Lancelin community services the local rock-lobster fishing industry and tourism. Other industries include mining and various forms of agriculture. With the ocean on one side and the dunes the other, the area caters for many recreational activities including surfing, wind-surfing, fishing and off-road vehicles.

Lancelin Primary School has in place programs to support both literacy and numeracy development. A key feature is the occupational health therapy and speech therapy access that is available to students through the school. Current priorities include pastoral care, reading and numeracy. The 'Getting It Right' numeracy strategy is supporting our numeracy priority. Indonesian is taught by video conferencing through the Schools of Isolated and Distance Education (SIDE). Classrooms all have at least four fully networked computers to allow ICT to be integrated into classroom activities. An Environmental Plan has been implemented and students are involved in many different environmental projects, including the revegetation of Lancelin Island and the Lancelin townsite foreshore.

Lancelin Primary School is actively involved in community events. Examples of this in 2006 have included the annual SeaWeek celebration, local Landcare initiatives and Marine Debris surveys. Staff welcome parent and community involvement in the learning programs offered at the school. An active Parents' & Citizens' Association and School Council ensure school decision making is enhanced through consultation with parents, community and staff. The school supports and co-ordinates the Active After School Communities Project which involves coaching and active participation in a variety of sports.

The Lancelin school community is proud of its achievements and its ability to meet the educational, social and emotional needs of all students.
