| Lake Monger Primary School is a community of learners striving for excellence in an environment of care, support and cooperation. With its country look and family feel, the school is attractively situated on the shores of Lake Monger in the suburb of Wembley. With views across to the city the school has extensive grounds and a beautiful lake outlook. It has the best aspects of a central city area, with excellent proximity to all facilities. Lake Monger was once a meeting place of early settlers and before that the Aboriginal people. Known as Wandarra Primary, the school started in 1954 . The new classroom complex was added in 1977 and the Administration block added a few years later. The on site Pre Primary facilty has operated from 1993 and a Kindergarten program commenced in 2000. As a result of its small size, all students are known to each other and to the staff. All students are treated as unique individuals and we work hard to enable each child to achieve their potential. There are also many opportunities for older students to demonstrate their leadership ability. Lake Monger Primary School aims to provide a personal, friendly environment with confident and happy students who are proud of their own achievements and that of their school. The school also celebrates the school's multicultural nature at every opportunity. The staff is highly qualified, experienced and dedicated to teaching and learning. Lake Monger Primary School programs are highly valued by the system and have been used as model for other schools. Technology plays an important role as a tool for learning. An integrated, outcomes based curriculum from Kindergarten to Year 7 aims to cater for the individual needs of each child and Individual Education Plans meet the specific needs of students when required. The school has a strong oral language program which involves our senior students in interschool debating and public speaking competitions. Technology plays an increasingly important role as a tool for learning. All classes have computers and Internet connection. Selected students have performed well in statewide Maths, English and Computer competitions with between 15 -20a0of our Year 7 students being selected for Academic Extension courses at secondary schools in the last three years. Students are given every opportunity to excel. All students participate in goal setting and self-evaluation. Many students have travelled and are able to speak more than one language. The school has had a Get it Right Literacy Specialist teacher since 2001. The school also experienced Specialist Teachers in P.E., Italian, Music and Technology Parental involvement is highly valued and strongly encouraged. As partners the school community believe that a child's success requires an environment where children learn competently, parents participate confidently and teachers share their expertise cooperatively. Lake Monger Primary School is "big enough to be interesting and small enough to allow personal attention to each child and a more 'family' feeling." - | ||||

| Small school very casual in it's approach. if you like that sort of thing. | Teaching has a very high turnover rate. Student population has a very high turnover rate. No remedial programmes. Poor communication by staff. Lack of consistancy in teaching and communication. 2 years was enough for my children to fall behind in school so I pulled them out and they are in a proper school. Avoid at all costs. One of my children was bullied and I could not get the staff to action it. Any parent friendly activities are scheduled for during school time which precludes working parents. | This school has a 'protect itself at all cost attitude'. Your child will come second to the department covering it's own backside. Hard to get anything done. Poor parent participation. I found that they 'blew their own trumpet' quite a bit but were sadly lacking in reality. It's a second rate school. AVOID AVOID AVOID. | ||
