The town of Kukerin is situated 330km south east of Perth in the Dumbleyung Shire. Its nearest towns are Dumbleyung (40km west) and Lake Grace (40km east). About 50 people live in the town and the rest of the community live on the surrounding wheat and sheep farms.

Kukerin Primary School is located in the Narrogin Education District.
The school had its 90th Anniversary in 2004 and has graduated from a one-teacher school in the 1920's and 1930's to a two- teacher school with a student population of approximately 26 students. Most of the students travel to school on one of the two bus services provided. The Junior class (RIP) includes Kindergarten - Year 3 students and the Senior class includes students from Year 4 to Year 7.

Kukerin Primary School enjoys tremendous support from the community and has an active Parent and Citizen's (P&C) Association and a supportive School Council. The school staff and community have formed a collaborative partnership to ensure a positive learning environment and the best outcomes possible for the students. The school's motto 'Small but Strong' is mirrored in all its activities and programs offered.

The staff at Kukerin Primary School consists of the Principal, 2 full-time classroom teachers and 2 part-time teachers, in charge of Music and Languages Other Than Teacher (Italian). In addition the school employs a registrar, 2 Education Assistants, a Library Officer, a Gardener and a Cleaner.

Kukerin Primary School is set in attractive grounds, surrounded by Salmon gums and natural bushland. The school has its own basketball,netball, and tennis courts, a Junior and Senior Adventure playground and a good supply of Physical Education equipment catering for a variety of sports. In addition, the school has a network of 12 computers, a digital camera, a video camera and a scanner available for student use, allowing full integration into the curriculum and providing excellent Teaching and Learning opportunities.
