SCHOOL OVERVIEW
Kewdale Primary is a well-organised and well-equipped school. The school has a library resource centre, under cover area and canteen, purpose built Art Room together with a Pre-Primary Centre. In addition, the administration area is of a modern spacious design and classrooms are benefiting from the P & C commitment to air-conditioning all classrooms. The school has a well-equipped computer room containing 24 standard computers connected via a server to the Library Resource Centre. In addition the library also has several computers, ensuring the school is well positioned to implement contemporary Learning Technology programmes.The teaching staff is very experienced with the average length of service in the school of approximately eight years.

Staff have undertaken Professional Development in Department of Education and Training Curriculum initiatives and there is a willingness to embrace and implement change. The school has a specialist Getting it Right Numeracy Teacher and her efforts this year have improved both teaching practice and student outcomes in numeracy.

In the Languages other than English learning area (LOTE), French is taught to Yrs 3-4 students and Japanese to Yrs 5-7 students.

The Arts Learning area is well catered for and the school has an outstanding music programme and Choir. The Visual arts programme is of a similar high standard.

The school staff have also embraced Values Education and a very well organized whole of school approach is being implemented.

SCHOOL DECISION MAKING AND CONSULTATION PROCESSES
The school has a School Council and parent's views on a wide range of issues that impact on parents and students are sought at meetings of this group and at P & C meetings.

Staff meet regularly including every Wednesday before school, where they have the opportunity to raise issues and decide on common directions and policies.

Finance and Professional Development decisions are carried out according to Department of Education and Training requirements. A parent representative is a member of this committee.

There is a willingness by all staff to make very positive contributions to curriculum development and other areas of the school. The school decision-making, therefore, reflects the quality of a number of informed minds.
