| Kensington Primary School is located 4km from Perth CBD in the heart of tranquil Kensington. The school opened in 1926 and the ambience of the school is a talking point for visitors to the school. The school has undergone significant growth over recent years, necessitating the use of transportable buildings as classrooms. Kensington Primary School is steeped in tradition, which is well appreciated by members of the community. It is well known that our deliberate focus on community, keeping traditions and making new ones is successfully building strong partnerships with the school community. The school community celebrated our 80 anniversary 26 July 2006, which attracted past and present members of the Kensington school community and beyond. An anniversary fete is held every five years by the P&C to celebrate each milestone. An Administration and Library upgrade was completed and officially opened in 2007. The school also has state government funding as part of the Fixing Our Schools Project which has attracted $127 000 for school improvements. In addition the Federal government has injected approximately $146 000 from Investing In Our Schools funding for state of the art information and communication technology in the school, to be completed in 2007. The School Council has a significant role in the school community and leadership by the group is well respected. The P&C are very proactive and enthusiastic in all of their endeavours to support the school community. They inject significant funds into the school to enhance teaching and learning opportunities for students. The school community has a strong partnership in all aspects of their involvement in the school. The staff at Kensington Primary School represent a broad range of experience. The staff are described as energised, committed to quality teamwork and highly professional. Shared leadership and leadership development are key aspects of the way the school operates. The staff work positively as a whole team. Many members of staff are aspirants. Values Education is at the forefront of everything the school community undertakes, and values underpin all that we do. The school community has a set of five core values and supporting values which are reflected in everything we do. The program involves a whole school approach. The school uses specific strategies that endeavour to reinforce and encourage these values.
