| Kelmscott Primary School nestles peacefully between Albany Highway and the banks of the Canning River, belying the hustle and bustle of Western Australia's second oldest townsite. Within these boundaries, a feeling of a 'country town' atmosphere has developed. The community is exceptionally supportive of the school and its activities and this had led to many school-community ventures. The Friendly Schools and Families Project is an example of the all stakeholders working together to address the problem of bullying in schools. The formulation of Bullying Prevention Policy, containing successful school and home based strategies, has led to Kelmscott Primary School receiving many out-of-area Applications for Enrolment. Kelmscott Primary School has a music program that has received District and State-wide recognition. Students have the opportunity to learn a variety of instruments including violin, double base, cello, flute, clarinet, guitar and an assortment of brass instruments. Our School Choir is sought after for performances in a range of public forums, and this year received the "Outstanding" category in all competitions. The formation of a Boys Choir in 2005 was an innovation that elevated the status of the Arts Learning Area for boys in Years 4 - 7. A comprehensive Environment Program is a feature of the school. A compost and wormery program makes good use of all biodegradable materials usually destined for the bin. The revegetation of the banks of the Canning River with indigenous plants raised in the nursery, has established a bond between students and the natural environment. At Kelmscott Primary School we Reduce, Reuse & Recycle! A strong values and pastoral care program exists. Students have the opportunity to develop their knowledge, skills and attitudes through the Rainbows, Values, Friendly Schools & Families and Managing Anger through Art programs. Kelmscott Primary School fosters a deep pride in striving to do your best for yourself, your faction and for the school. | ||||
