| Karratha Primary School is proud of its tradition of serving the educational needs of Karratha students for over three decades and maintaining standards of academic and athletic excellence. We are a Government School that provides educational services for children from Kindergarten through to Year 7. The school has an enrolment of approximately 440 students comprising of 50 Kindergarten children, 40 pre-primary children and 350 primary students. It operates two Kindy classes,one Kindy/Pre-Primary class,one Pre-Primary class and 13 classes from Year 1 to Year 7. Karratha Primary School was the first primary school in Karratha. Building commenced in 1970 and opened in 1971 as Karratha Junior High School. The school was originally built by Hamersley Iron Pty Ltd in conjunction with the Education Department to provide the newly established town with education facilities for the increasing number of families moving into the area. It now services the townsite of Karratha (Bulgarra) and two bus services ensure that children in the immediate catchment area have access to the school. Karratha Primary School is committed to the core values of Learning, Excellence, Equity and Care. The school offers a comprehensive range of learning activities. It is well resourced and has specialist teachers in two learning areas. The fundamental purpose of programs undertaken at Karratha Primary School is to provide structure around which students may build knowledge, understanding and values. We offer a wide range of learning opportunities that contribute to the achievement of a harmonious environment that caters for: - Students at Educational Risk - Integration - Languages other than English - Multiculturalism - Aboriginal Education Studies - Equal Opportunity The School Council, P & C and P.S.P.I. Committees are all involved in the development of plans. A school team of 48 is administrated by a Principal, two Deputies and a Registrar. The school campus consist of three separate building areas: - The main building which houses 18 classroom, the library and the administration wing off Turner Way. - The Junior Primary block. - The Pre Primary/Kindergarten block. The Junior Primary block and the Pre-Primary/Kindergarten blocks are both accessible from Searipple Road. Student Services include School Nurse, District School Psychologist, Dental Therapy Unit, Education Support Centre and School Canteen.
