| Jarrahdale is a semi-rural community situated 50km S.E. of Perth in the Darling Scarp. The traditional 'timber town' image no longer applies although local heritage rules are aimed at retaining the town's character. Recent grants to the Shire have seen the establishment of a Heritage Park which will adjoin a new land development for traditional style homes only Formal schooling began in Jarrahdale in 1874. The school has been on its current site since 1954. Teaching staff is a blend of recently appointed and the more experienced. Non-teaching staff provide valuable assistance to the school's learning and teaching program. School decision making and consultation processes are in place at all levels. All teachers are encouraged to take on leadership roles in the school and teaching amd non-teaching staff serve on various committees. The school maintains excellent parent-teacher communications. The P&C is extremely active and an enthusiastic School Council supports the school's endeavours to improve student outcomes. Students are elected as student councillors, onto three committees; Student Council, Sports Council and Environmental Committee. These groups promote student activities and address equity and social justice issues. | ||||
