| OUR COMMUNITY Established in the mid 1970's, the suburb of Huntingdale has recently had further residential sub-divisions added to, what is now, a well established suburb. Being the one school in the suburb has resulted in a true sense of 'community' developing within the school. The school is also a focal point within the local community. OUR STAFF The school has a neat blend of staff with extensive experience and a group of more recently graduated teachers. The school leadership team consists of a Principal, three Assistant Principals and a Registrar. The school is fortunate to also have two Level Three teachers and a significant number of Advanced Skill Teachers (ASTs) who contribute to supporting colleagues and curriculum development. The support staff team includes School Officers, a Library Officer, a raft of Education Assistants deployed to support students from Kindergarten to Year 7, a School Gardener and team of school-based cleaning staff. In total, more than 70 staff work on the Huntingdale Primary School Site. SPECIAL FEATURES We have sixteen permanent classrooms, seven transportable primary classes, two pre primary rooms and four early childhood transportables. The site includes a new Library (completed in 2004), Canteen, Covered Assembly Area, Administrative Building (recently refurbished) and a Community Building. The school operates on a six period day as a base for planning, with specialist programs operating in LOTE, Physical Education, Music and Library Research studies. DECISION MAKING AND CONSULTATION A School Council operates under the guidelines of the School Education Act (1999) and provides input to policy matters and school planning. The Council meets twice each term. The School Leadership team forms an executive decision making body for the management of the school. This body is informed by a range of committees involving teaching and non-teaching staff. - Curriculum Leaders Committees - Learning Area Committees - Social Skills Committees - Information Technology Group - Student Services Committee - Values Committee - Professional Development Group - Finance Committee - Grievance Committee - Social Committee - Staff Support Group CHALLENGES While a large school, the key aspect of student management is very functional and effective. This is due to the nature of the staff team and the supportive and co-operative nature of our client families. The energy, skill and dedication of the staff and the P&C Association overcome any resource difficulties or challenges. OPPORTUNITIES Huntingdale Primary School joins the highly successful 'Getting It Right' program in 2005. This will provide the school with additional teaching resources to target the Mathematics learning area. Teaching staff are excited about the additional support they will receive through this strategy and enhanced educational outcomes for students. The Early Childhood program (K & PP) offered in the school has numerous features, including a program focused on providing parents & carers with additional strategies to support the acquisition of language skills. The program is expected to continue to grow in 2005. The school motto 'I Care' is the cornerstone of the school's process for managing student behaviour, with a strong orientation to reinforcing and rewarding good behaviour. The school has adopted the core values from the Curriculum Framework to promote social learning. These core values are reported on annually and strategies are funded from the Department of Education and Training's BMaD project. | ||||

| I has a warm close feel to it, not like some of the bigger schools. It is well maintained and has a lot of teachers that have continue on at the school and also Jill Kershaw who has always got time for students and parents alike. | i think it could have more undercover area's. It's a bit open to the weather. | On a rating out of 10, i would give it a 9. My 4 children went to the school and at all times, the school was supportive and helped in every way they could. | ||
