Halls Head Primary School opened in February 1995 with a primary population of 280 and one Pre-Primary unit growing to 624 at the beginning of 2005. Currently the school offers 3 Early Childhood transportable centres, 2 purpose built PP centres, 19 primary classrooms including 7 transportables, a Computer Lab and a LOTE room.

CATCHMENT AREA
Halls Head shares the area between the Peel Estuary and the ocean south to the Dawesville Cut with Glencoe and Falcon schools. In 1995 about 90a0of the school's population came from the nearby Glencoe Primary. Most Halls Head families live in a relatively newly settled area and are of a medium socio-economic status. The population is predominantly of anglo-saxon heritage. The development of new areas West and South of the school has had a large impact on school enrolments.

STAFF/EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS
Teaching staff is well experienced, most having 10 or more years experience in the classroom.
Both deputies have minimal teaching roles, one providing Library Support and the other acting as Coordinator and Support Teacher for the Students at Risk program.

Physical Education and LOTE are the major specialist areas whilst the presence of an Art teacher and a Music teacher has enabled the non-contact times to be developed into specialist times. Support time has been used to provide the students with either Library or Computer lessons. Residual support time, used to assist students identified 'at risk', has reduced as the school has grown.

Nineteen teachers hold Senior Teacher positions. One SRA allowance is paid to a teacher who assists in Performance Management and Induction. The School has two Level 3 teachers assisting in curriculum development, pedagogy and pastoral care.

Non teaching staff consist of six ECE assistants, a junior primary assistant, six special needs assistants, a Level 3 registrar, a 0.8 school officer, a 0.8 library officer, a gardener and four cleaners.

Timetabling is arranged to allow one collaborative session for same year level teachers. Early close on Thursdays enables further collaboration and professional development time.

Profiles have been developed to assist the on-going identification and tracking of students with particular academic, behavioural and/or medical needs.

Close links are established between class records and school report data. This data is used to help analyse school performance. The information is validated and complemented with moderation processes, MSE tests, some standardised tests and national literacy and numeracy tests. The latter, WALNA testing, is analysed and cohorts tracked through 'Data Club' mechanisms. School performance information is used by teachers and parents to help identify priorities for future planning.

DECISION MAKING/PARENT SUPPORT
Support for the school through parent involvement is quite positive and the Parents and Citizens group is very active, raising valuable funds for extra school resources. This is especially important as the school does not receive extra funding in the way of Commonwealth funding.
Through parent support a full time canteen operates with two employed staff.

A School Council meets every term and, besides ratifying matters related to the School Plan, also deals with other issues such as policies related to School Dress and BMIS. Decisions made by the School Council are communicated to the school community through newsletters, staff meetings and P&C meetings.

Overall:
There are some amazing teachers that really actually care and feel more like a older friend rather than a teacher. Met some pretty awesome friends here!! <3 Some real awesome class clowns too lolThere's some reallly crapp faouring teachers ********** and mosta the students here are all teenyboppers acting to old for their age and wayy to focused on social status. alot of students here are NOT VERY RACIALLY/RELIGEOUSLY TOLERANT! Very discrimminative. :( We missed out on camp this year :(It's a pretty average and slightly above sorta school overall. howeverm If your child is prone to bullying, itd be better if you didnt send them here.
