| SCHOOL PROFILE 2007 GOOMALLING PRIMARY SCHOOL - ENDEAVOUR Goomalling Primary School is located in the Goomalling Shire and is situated 136 kilometers north east of Perth, Western Australia. Goomalling is historically known for wheat and sheep farming and is situated 46 kilometers from Northam, the nearest major township. Over half of the school population live on farms and commute daily on the school bus service. In 2006 Goomalling Primary School celebrated 100 years of education. During this time the school has been based at three major locations. The original school (1906 - 1954) in Throssel Street was a typical weatherboard building hosting only one classroom. The new school building made of corrugated iron in William Street provided students with an education from 1955 to 1969. Due to the increase in student numbers, in 1970 the current school building was built in Hoddy Street and operated as a District High School until 1988. As a legacy of this, Goomalling Primary School is fortunate to offer substantial school facilities not usually experienced in a Level 3 school. The school offers a double size kindergarten/pre-primary, Undercover Area, teacher resource room, McGill Library, dedicated art and computer room and a home economics room. As a result of the Centenary Celebrations, the school has experienced a major up grade that includes a new water wise garden, 7 meter Mosaic Garden Wall, new play equipment and football oval and a refurbished Undercover Area. Goomalling Primary School currently caters for 48 students from Kindergarten through to Year 7 with a focus on student centred learning. In 2007 the school will operate three classes including K/P/1, 2/3/4 and 5/6/7. The Kindergarten students attend two days per week. The Principal teaches two days per week in the Year 5/6/7 class. The school also participates in learning Italian language through SIDE (School of Isolated and Distant Education). Goomalling Primary School conducts the following specialist programs; Getting it Right Numeracy Learning Support Co-ordinator Languages - Italian Be Active After School Activities Community developed and managed Play Group Specialist music program In term Swimming School Volunteer Program Indigenous language program Music Feste Sporting events play a major role in wheat belt towns. Goomalling primary participates in Interschool sports Carnivals, Faction Carnivals, Swimming Carnivals, Warrior Cricket Carnival and the Winter Lightning Carnival (Aussie Rules and Netball). Goomalling Primary School is well supported by the P & C Association and the School Council. The school works closely and is well supported by the Shire of Goomalling and the Goomalling Community in general. Apart from the Government Education System, Goomalling also has a small Catholic School. | ||||
