| Goollelal Primary School is situated 20 kilometres north of Perth in the suburb of Kingsley and caters for students from Kindergarten through to Year 7. The school was opened in 1981 and currently has 275 students. The school and surrounding suburbs are in a period of growth. Goollelal Primary School services a diverse community and currently has families from twenty nationalities including, British, Vietnamese, African, Italian, Croatian, Serbian, Indian, New Zealand, Chinese, Malaysian, American, Dutch and German. A real feature of Goollelal Primary School is that all children relate to each other exceptionally well. Visitors are constantly impressed by the friendly and peaceful atmosphere at the school. In addition to the principal and deputy principal, Goollelal Primary School has fourteen teachers. The teaching staff action new initiatives and implement the Curriculum Framework. The average length of staff service at Goollelal is in excess of ten years. The school has a registrar,a part-time school officer, gardener, a library officer and thirteen education assistants as part of the support staff team. School staff actively address the social, emotional and behavioural well-being of our students. The buildings consist of two main teaching blocks: one of eight classrooms and one of six classrooms; an on-site kindergarten; an administration block; a purpose-built library; an enclosed undercover assembly area; a new outdoor undercover area and two pre-primary units. There is also a large music/drama performance area. The school is well equipped with a computer laboratory plus computers in each classroom with linkage and Internet access. Computers form an integral part of our teaching and learning program. Therapy Focus (an organisation supporting school-age students with therapy needs) have staff occupying three rooms on site. Excellent outdoor play areas allow for a wide variety of outdoor games. Special Programs include physical education, Languages Other Than English (Japanese), music/drama, information technology and Students at Educational Risk. The Parents' and Citizens' Association (P&C) are proactive in their support of the school and its many programs and are keenly involved in school committees and the School Council. The School Council is the major decision-making group within the school and consists of parents and members of the school teaching staff. Some draft school policies are submitted to the School Council for consideration, review and approval. Many new facilities, including air-conditioning of the school and the carpeting of the assembly area, have been generously provided by the dedicated fundraising committee. Parents and the local community are supportive of the school's educational programs. Parents have a high expectation of academic performance and the school is proud of its results in both the national and state annual standardised tests. Goollelal Primary School students consistently perform above the average in these tests and the school has a reputation for high achievement.
