Forrestfield Primary School is located approximately 15 kilometres south east of Perth.
IT was established on its present site in 1965 (previously founded in 1927 on a site on the corner of Hale and Hawtin Roads). Forrestfield Primary School's catchment area for students lies between Hale Road to the north, the Darling Escarpment to the east and Tonkin Highway to the west.

The school serves a diverse community including families of small business people, trades people and service industry workers from a variety of cultures. Approximately fifty Aboriginal students are enrolled and an Aboriginal and Islander Educational Officer support these students in their learning.

Our teaching staff is very experienced and most have been at the school more than ten years, we have a very stable and quality staff including our Education Assistants.

The School has friendly customer focussed staff and offers its students a full, student centred curriculum aligned to the Curriculum Framework. A 2007 survey of Parent attitudes towards the school showed overwhelming support for the school's efforts in improving student performance, providing a safe, caring and inclusive environment, and for encouraging community participation.

Specialist programs include Music, Art, Italian and Information Technology (ICT), Talented and Gifted (TAGS) programs are offered currently in Science. There is also an Education Support Unit which caters for a small group (10) of mildly disabled students. Support programs are also available for student experiencing difficulties with their learning.

A Getting It Right Numeracy teacher has been recently appointed to assist teachers to develop rich mathematical learning programmes.

The School has a very proud tradition of success on the on the sporting field. A number of our former students have represented W.A. and Australia in a variety of sports. Most recently (2004) a former student was named in the Australian team in Australian Rules football. A female student represented Australia in Tae Kwon Do at the 2000 (Sydney) Olympic Games.

Another area of excellence is the school's Art Program. The annual Art Exhibition is a prestigious event attracting large numbers of parents and great public interest. Through its Arts Program the school managed to raise the funds needed to bring international mural artist Michelle Loughery from Canada to paint a mural in our school. It is the feature of our playground showing two students reading amongst the flora and fauna native to Forrestfield.
Our music program is fast earning an enviable reputation for the quality of its choral singing. The Choir performs at a number of events each year and have performed as a massed choir at Burswood Theatre the last several years.

FPS has been involved in several projects concerning the teaching of values to our students. We recently published the Little Book of Virtues sold Australia wide. The book is the work of our students as a result of a Values programme taught in the school. This has since resulted in a set of posters being published and sold to teachers' world wide.

Forrestfield Primary School is very well resourced and its physical setting is impressive. There are two large sports ovals and five netball / basketball courts. The gardens are attractive and many tall gum trees provide an attractive back drop to the ovals and buildings. We have a resident numbat who has set up home in our beautiful gardens.

As the school was built in stages there is a variety of classroom designs. Other buildings include a fully automated Library Resource Centre, a large, well equipped Art Room, a computer laboratory, a music room. All the rooms are fully air-conditioned and each classroom has a pod of three or four computers. FPS is on the ITC in Schools project.

The school's computers are fully networked and the school's newsletters, policies and classroom activities are posted on its web-site and the school's intra-net.

The P&C Association runs a canteen and a Uniform Shop. There is also a Dental Clinic on site. Our parents are very much our partners in the learning journey happening at Forrestfield Primary School.

Overall:
well i have recently changed schools i used to be in forrie primary school. the good things are tht the teachers always put in the effort to teach the students. we have a wide selection of sports including the following sports: AFL, Soccer, Basketball (only available for year sevens), Cricket and many more. the stuent at the school are very welcoming.the bad thing are that forrie primary school is a graffiti site and i am sorry to say but the amount of children braking into the school just to vandalise the facilities are increasing.i think the school would be very welcoming to new students and i strongly advise going to that school. thanks Taylor age 12
