East Wanneroo Primary School is situated approximately 30 kilometres from Perth on a well developed site with many large trees and well kept gardens. Around the school a growing and developing community includes urban and semi-rural areas. Some rural areas are currently being developed into housing blocks. This will have an effect on enrolments over the next few years. The current enrolment is approximately 720 children from Kindergarten to Year 7.

The school is noted for strong literacy and numeracy programs and individual student's learning needs are accommodated at their level of development. The school has a very strong behaviour management policy which has produced a very stable environment for the children. The Parents' and Citizens' Association have devoted much of their fundraising activities in recent years on the purchase of additional play ground equipment and the development of the grounds. Previously, the P & C were responsible for air conditioning the school.

The school priorities for 2006 are; English, Mathematics and Health and Physical Education, while the Focus Areas are; Social Skills and Values Education, Information Technology and Students At Educational Risk.

The school has fifty nine staff which comprises: 40 teaching staff including the principal and two deputy principals; a registrar and school officer; a library officer; 12 Education Assistants; a gardener and 3 cleaners.

Special features of school's programs include:
1. Instrumental music in brass - flute, clarinet, trumpet Years 6 & 7.
2. Years 4, 5 and 6 recorder lessons.
3. A Music Specialist and the school band for Year 6 & 7 students - brass instruments (students taught in school time through the School of Instrumental Music), percussion,guitar or other instruments are taught out of school hours.
4. Computer facilities include two special computer rooms for information technology, internet facilities and computer skills lessons. Each classroom has at least 2 computers for students' use.
5. Getting it Right Program. A teacher is appointed for 0.8 time and is responsible for mathematics development from Kindergarten to Year 3.
6. A Library Resource Centre that is automated.
7. Collaboration of all staff for planning and group work.
8. Physical Education program.
9. A Inclusive Learning Coordinator allocation of 0.2.

The School Council consists of three elected staff members and five elected community members and the principal.

The Parents' and Citizens' Association also allows for full parent representation of the school community.

Committees operate for each of the three priority areas; English, Mathematics and Health and Physical Education as well as for the three focus areas; Information Technology, Social Skills and Values Education and Students At Educational Risk.

Strong staff-parent consultation is encouraged at East Wanneroo Primary School.
