Students are self motivated and confident in their approach to learning; and 2. able to work individually and collaboratively SCHOOL OVERVIEW INFORMATION ABOUT EAST KAGOORLIE PRIMARY SCHOOL East Kalgoorlie Primary School promotes respect for the culture of our students and who we are. Our students are proud of their Aboriginality. We celebrate being Deadly and Smart. We value diversity, respect our differences and care for each other. Our school recognises all achievements of our students'. We strive for excellence and celebrate the progress and efforts made along the way. East Kalgoorlie Primary School is about collaboration, open communication and supportive relationships for all students, staff and parents. We work hard to build relationships of trust and respect with our parents and caregivers so that together we can improve student learning. We honour respect and responsibility across the school. East Kalgoorlie Primary School is located within the community of Williamstown on the outskirts of Kalgoorlie-Boulder. It was established in 1906 and has a strong and proud history and tradition. The school caters predominantly for Aboriginal students from Kindergarten to Year 7. There were no non Aboriginal students presently attending the school in 2006. Currently the school is a classified as a Level 3 Primary School with 85 students attending. Most of the students are delivered to and from school by bus, with many students attending from outside the school boundaries. The school is organised into 3 primary classrooms and 1 kindergarten/pre-primary. Located on site is the Henderson Centre which is a facility used to address any health and nutrition programs. It also provides an informal meeting facility for both parents and teachers. The school does have a transient population with the enrolment changing from week to week. the transient population is approximately 45a0of the school population each semester. Our pastoral care programs have achieved great success in providing a friendly, happy school, which impacts positively on student outcomes. We are constantly acknowledged for our innovative programs that recognise, respond to and accommodate academic, social and cultural diversity within our school community. We provide breakfast and lunch program, involved in Active After Schools Program and Homework classes. East Kalgoorlie Primary School values relationships with students, staff, parent/carers and our wider community. We appreciate the support the students and staff in our school receive from the Goldfields District Education Office and from personnel within the WA Department of Education. We actively foster parent/carer and community involvement in our students' education. A strategic plan details how their involvement has been targetted extremely for improving the outcomes for students and our school community. East Kalgoorlie Primary School's dedicated team of highly professional and committed staff provide an outstanding learning environment for our students and whole school community. Our curriculum programs include: Getting it Right Numeracy, Aboriginal Literacy Strategy, ITAS and AEST programs, 100 Schools Information Communication Technologies innovations, LOTE Wongatha, Aboriginal Studies and use Tribes across the school. | ||||
