Since 1911 Dwellingup Primary School has faithfully served the children and local community. Historically Dwellingup's community relied upon the local mill industry for employment. More recently mining, forestry, fruit growing and tourism industries have been established.

Including the Principal, six teachers currently share three full-time and one .8 teaching positions at Dwellingup, supported by the Registrar, Gardener, Library Officer and 3 part time Education Assistants. Four of the teachers are well-experienced and one teacher is a graduate.

A gradual decline in numbers over the past 5 years has resulted in the school being re-classified as a Level 3 school with a total of 73 students. A number of students are drawn from properties some distance from the town-site. A bus service along the Pinjarra-Williams Road provides transport for six families. Four classes have been formed to cater for the needs of students within these groupings: Kindergarten and Pre-Primary; Year Ones and Year 2; Years 3, 4 and 5 and Years 6 and 7. Most classes are in the vicinity of twenty students.

The school is well resourced with classrooms, a library, undercover area and administrative block and blessed with attractive and well-maintained grounds. Building and grounds projects undertaken by the local community have ensured that students and staff are well catered for.

Teachers are committed to meeting the needs of individual students and developing positive, mutually respectful partnerships with parents. Students at Educational Risk are effectively targeted and well supported. The Curriculum Implementation Plan remains an ongoing focus for 2005 and District Office support is valued as we pursue continuous self-improvement. An additional focus is Health and Well-Being, Arts (comprising of an annual Drama Production, School Recorder Group and this year an Instrumental Music Programme) and Environmental Studies.

A body of parents is actively involved with the school through the School Council, P & C and the provision of practical help. The School Volunteer Program - Mentors caring for young people - involves senior members of local communities assisting individual students with learning. Significant gains have been made as a result of this invaluable program. Parents and community representatives are involved in the decision-making processes of the School Council. The 'Dwellingup Crier', the weekly newsletter, informs parents of activities and community events. A report in the monthly 'Dwellingup News' communicates school activirties to the wider community. Regular assemblies, interviews, learning journeys, portfolios and written reports provide parents with feedback about student performance. Though not all parents are able to commit time to these activities, there is a supportive atmosphere throughout the school and wider community.

The motto 'Standing tall and proud' encapsulates our values of growth, the pursuit of excellence and pride.
