| The town of Dumbleyung is situated 280kms east of Perth. Its nearest towns are Wagin (40km west) and Katanning (50km southwest). Dumbleyung has a population of approximately 500 and is primarily a farming community. Dumbleyung Primary School was originally established in 1911 as a District High School. There are three full-time teaching staff and two part-time teaching staff at Dumbleyung Primary School for 2008. This includes an Art specialist one day a week. The school has access to a large pool of relief teachers. There are also two Education Assistants working in the classrooms, a Registrar, a Gardener and a Library Officer at the school. The School has three full-time classes: Early Childhood (K/P/1/2) 19 Students Lower Primary (Year 3/4) 17 Students Upper Primary (Year 5/6/7) 18 Students Total: 54 Students The school runs a variety of programs to enhance the learning opportunities for all students. Some of these include: 1. A Student Leadership Program for all year 7 students as well as the Student Council. This program builds student ability in public speaking, responsibilty, confidence, organisation and team skills. 2. A Virtues Program whereby all students are taught and rewarded for demonstrating a variety of virtues such as responsibility, honesty, reliability, and compassion. 3. A Student Council comprising of 6 students from years 5 to 7, elected by their peers. The Student Council runs our assemblies, represents our school and fundraises for some charities. 4. A Students at Educational Risk (SAER) program identifies students at risk in specific learning areas. Appropriate learning programs are developed with the assistance of the School's Learning Support Coordinator, addressing any learning difficulties. 5. An Active After School Community program is available to all students who wish to take part in a variety of physical activities and sports after school. 6. A Gym in Schools Program runs in Term 2 to allow all students opportunites to develop their coordination, balance, locomotion and gymnastics skills. 7. A Friendly Schools Friendly Families program is in place to educate students in relation to what bullying behaviour is and strategies to minimumise bullying. The School has a very active Parents and Citizens(P&C)Association as well as supportive School Council. The school staff and community have formed a collaborative partnership to ensure a positive learning environment, allowing for optimum outcomes for all students. | ||||
