| Established in 1938, Dalkeith Primary School is located on an attractive, well developed and maintained site in the suburb of Dalkeith, a high socio-economic suburb on the banks of the Swan River approximately 8 km from the Perth CBD. The school has a large multi-cultural population with the majority of parents from professional, business and senior management backgrounds. The student population, currently 265, has steadily increased since 1998 and is expected to increase in the ensuing years. Parent participation in their children's education is actively encouraged and supported and strong bonds exist across the school community. The community believes that every student has the right to learn. The harmonious atmosphere that exists at Dalkeith provides a safe, stimulating environment in which each student can develop to his or her potential. The School is a traditional brick and tile building. All classrooms are air-conditioned and the school also boasts a well-resourced library, learning technology room with 24 new computers and an interactive whiteboard, music room, art room and swimming pool. The school is fully networked with a minimum of 3 computers in each classroom. The updated administration area of the school is welcoming and functional. The offsite Pre-School Centre, located on Victoria Avenue Dalkeith caters specifically for Kindergarten and Pre-Primary children. This is an excellently resourced facility. The staff at Dalkeith are highly professional, approachable, friendly and committed to achieving the best possible outcomes for all students. Through their participation in professional development and further study, the staff continues to develop skills, expertise and understanding of current curriculum initiatives. Their expertise and professionalism have been recognised by the community of Dalkeith in that seven teachers have received nominations for the Premier's Teacher of the Year Award since 1997 including a state finalist in 2006. The learning programme at Dalkeith Primary School seeks to address the needs of students of all abilities and interests as indicated by the extensive range of programmes available. The school continues to enjoy success in both the academic and physical fields as indicated by the number of scholarships to secondary schools won by students, as well as consistently above average results in external assessments. Awards in the performing arts and sports arenas along with widespread acclaim for the school musical production ensure the inclusive school environment offers something special for each student. | ||||
