| Condingup is a small rural community 68km east of Esperance and only 20km from the fabulous Esperance coast. It has a population of approximately 70 in the town and 350 in the surrounding sheep / cattle / cropping farms. The town offers a variety of facilities such as a shop, tavern, fuel, church, community centre, ambulance, fire truck and a twice-weekly postal service. The Level 3 primary school is centrally located within the town in an attractive garden setting. It currently has 61 students enrolled and organised within three classes. The school is well resourced and has a friendly and dedicated community committed to the school. Most of the children travel to and from school by bus from outlying farms. The people in the community are very warm and friendly, offering the typical country hospitality. The school is supported by an active P & C Committee who play a key role within the school. A canteen operates once a week. P&C meetings are held monthly at the school. The School Council meets at least once per term and also plays a key role in the school. Students attend a swimming camp annually. During years 5/7 they have access to a further 3 camps - one to Perth, one to Canberra in either year 6 or 7 combining with the other small schools in our region and the last to either Kalgoorlie, Pemberton or Albany. (This year the year 6/7 students will travel to Canberra in July.) These offer students the opportunity to interact with other students and explore a range of activities and learning opportunities not available within our community. These camps are supported by the parents of our students. During 2006 three classes will operate. K/P/1, 2/3/4, 5/6/7 The learning program offered in our school reflects the Curriculum Framework. The staff use tracking tools based on Learning Area Outcomes to monitor student progress. and assist in the development of appropriate teaching and learning programs The school has both administration and Curriculum computer networks, Internet and satellite facilities. LOTE is delivered via telephone and computer through School for Isolated and Distance Education.. There are excellent sporting and recreational facilities and opportunities available at Condingup. After a fulfilling week teaching, weekends can be spent taking part in one of the numerous sports available during the year (golf, bowls, football, basketball, hockey and tennis). The fabulous beaches provide opportunities to swim, dive, fish, sail, watch whales / dolphins / seals and enjoy the coastal scenery. There are many nearby places to enjoy the countryside - visiting historical sites and camp. Condingup is close to a major town, Esperance, that offers all services needed to live comfortably and still be able to enjoy the benefits of living in the country and not be too isolated. There are good medical, shopping and recreational facilities, restaurants, holiday accommodation and much more. Thinking of coming to the Esperance District? Why not, it's great! | ||||
