Comet Bay Primary is a Level 5 school serving families living in the suburb of Secret Harbour. The school will open in 2007 with approximately 350 - 400 students, and is part of the Fremantle-Peel Education District.

Comet Bay Primary School has been constructed and is completed. It currently houses the Year 8 students from Comet Bay College who will move out at the end of this year into their new school at the commencement of 2007. The Comet Bay College site is approximately 600 metres south west of the Comet Bay Primary School.

We will be fully committed to the Curriculum Improvement process. Our selected teachers will have made considerable progress in understanding and applying the strategies of Outcomes Focussed Education. The vehicle we will use for a lot of the curriculum development is 'First Steps' and 'Co-operative Learning'. Both the Literacy and Numeracy First Steps programmes will be used throughout the school.

All rooms in the school are connected by fibre-optic cable and all classes have Internet access.

Updates regarding the development of our new school can be viewed on the school website at www.southsecretharbourps.com.au.Community Profile
Secret Harbour lies on the West Australian coast, less than an hour's drive from Perth's CBD. Nestled conveniently between the cities of Rockingham and Mandurah, the award-winning residential estate offers an idyllic lifestyle and a stunning location to live. Secret Harbour's secluded, yet village like ambience is one of its most attractive features. Many flock to Secret Harbour for its abundant natural attributes, such as the open spaces, bush land, beaches, parks and lakes, while others are won over by the internationally-renowned, 18 hole links-style golf course. More than 3500 people live at Secret Harbour and there is a strong sense of community spirit.Staffing Profile

We want all students at Comet Bay Primary School to achieve the highest standards of learning possible so that they are equipped to deal effectively with the opportunities and challenges they encounter in the community. We want them to be enthusiastic about learning, in safe and supportive learning environments. We want motivated and capable teachers, who feel valued and supported by the school community.

The staff at Comet Bay have summarized this into their own vision statement;

Comet Bay Primary School will offer a student centred education focused on the present and developmental needs of the children. School programmes will be linked within the Health-Promoting Schools Framework (Curriculum, Ethos and Partnerships) and will be interrelated in everything we do. Overall:
*The Principal & his vision for the school which is a driving force! *Committed teachers who care about the school and it's students*Becoming overcrowded due to the government's delay in providing enough schools for a growing area. *Not enough car parks (again not caused by the school, but the bad planning of the education department)Great school...we are very happy there.

Overall:
Its a very clean, good looking school and I know theey are putting the effort into our childs future, however read the bad points.Airconditioning is very slow in being put in. over crowding of the school will affect the long term future. There has been lots of talk between parents asking the question whether to take their child elsewhere where the crowding isn't an issueIts getting very very overcrowded. Split classes are frustrating parents, especially where kids are being missed out on activities (K/P1)
