| Claremont Primary School is situated centrally in the suburb of Claremont at the mid-point of road and rail links between Perth and Fremantle. Since establishment in 1893, Claremont Primary School has had a distinguished role in Western Australian education. This is due partly to the close relationship established in 1902 with the Claremont Teachers' College. At different times in its history primary, secondary and tertiary education have been included in the school's brief. Claremont Primary School currently caters on-site for students from Pre-primary through to Year 7. The school provides professional staff for the Claremont Community Kindergarten a short walk away across Claremont Park. The stability of student and staff numbers contributes to the successful implementation of long-term strategies. Staff members are experienced, well-qualified and have professional attitudes which show dedication to the well-being of students. Pastoral care is recognised by the community as one of Claremont Primary School's strengths. Student attitudes towards school life and their learning obligations are strongly positive reflecting the values of their families and the wider community in which they live. Activities include regular participation in a wide range of sports at a school and inter-school level, cultural and academic extension, French, Bike Safety education and mentoring by members of the School Volunteer Program. The school provides for specialist programs in Music, Art, Physical Education and French. The children are able to access an Instrumental Music Program from Years 3 to 7. Instruments include violin, flute, viola, cello,double bass and brass. An active Parents and Citizens' Association has contributed to major upgrading of resources in areas such as the school library, reading resources, computer technology and grounds development. The School Council meets regularly and continues to support the development of the school with increased school autonomy and devolution of authority and responsibility.
