| Chapman Valley Primary School is in Nabawa, part of the scenic Chapman Valley near Geraldton. Our school belongs in the Mid West Education District. We have beautifully-kept grounds which provide a very rich learning environment. The main building consists of two classrooms, an administration area, preparation area and teachers work room. The junior primary classroom is adjacent to the school site in the Community Centre and is an early childhood centre leased from Chapman Valley Shire. Other buildings include the library; an art, craft and technology room; staff, student and disabled toilets with showering facilities; gardeners shed; and sporting equipment storage room. The school is very well resourced, with a comprehensive library collection and modern teaching aids. The computer network includes wireless laptops and peripheral hardware such as digital cameras and scanners. Information and Communications Technology is integrated across the curriculum. A satellite digital decoder provides student access to educational programmes available free-to-air. Students attending Chapman Valley Primary School come from the farming and broader community with a diverse range of socio-economic backgrounds. Two school buses provide transport for out of town students. We cater for children from Kindergarten through to Year 7. Our enrolment at the commencement of 2008 was 35. Close to a third of our students is Aboriginal. The school community is very supportive. The P&C provides additional resources and is very involved. Moreover, the School Council has an active role in the school's planning process. Our teachers are mid-career, experienced, and enthusiastic. All teachers regularly attend available professional development workshops and seminars. Students, teachers and parents actively engage with a wide variety of educational and community projects. These include the Chapman Valley Show, school assemblies, school and community newsletters, parent information sessions, Mother's Day morning tea, carol singing at Nazareth House, and an end of year school concert. Chapman Valley Primary School works closely with other schools in the district. We participate with Yuna Primary School in all the NCVISSA sporting activities, co-join with Walkaway Primary School for swimming lessons, and commit to numerous excursions. We are proudly providing a well-rounded education for our students in a very supportive environment. | ||||
