| Challis Primary School is a Level 5 school situated in the Canning District servicing the needs of students in the Armadale City suburb of Challis. The school is located on the corner of Braemore Rd and Lowanna Way. The school shares the campus with the Challis Early Childhood Education Centre (catering for children from Kindergarten to Year 2) and the Challis SPER Centre. The Challis Primary School student body comprises 400 years 3-7 students including twenty one Ed Support students. The spacious grounds accommodate a full sized football oval, hockey and soccer grounds, netball and basketball courts and additional grassed areas and playgrounds. The grounds and surrounds are well cared for and provide pleasant surroundings in which children may enjoy their schooling. Whilst there is some movement of families in and out of the school the school population is relatively stable with many families having been with the school for all of their children's education.Similarly, many teaching staff stay on at the school, with some staff members being here for more than 20 years. Staffing for the school is met by twenty two teaching staff including Principal, two Deputies, a Physical Education Specialist and an Art Specialist. There is further teacher support given to SAER, Music and Technology. Additionally there is a School Registrar, School Officer, Library Assistant, three Teacher Aides (ED Support), an AIEW shared with Challis ECEC and a School Gardener/Handy person. Italian language instruction to all students and a strong Art and Physical Education programme are features that compliment the diligence of the teachers in the delivery of the curriculum. A range of educational programmes are available at the school with the most recent priorities being towards improvement in the areas of: - Students at Educational Risk, particularly in Language; - Health & Well Being; - Mathematics; and - English We believe that at Challis PS, all children are provided with a comprehensive education delivered in a caring environment. Our innovative programs of Tribes. PATHS and Learning for Life have helped consolidate a culture in the school where all children are valued and their individual needs catered for in the best possible way. We encourage parents to become partners with the school in the education process. Parents, through a vibrant P&C and hard working School Council are integral to the overall success of our school. | ||||

| Gardens are well kept. | Many many problem kids in the school. Academic standards are very low. The school has slipped since the previous Principal left. The website is rarely updated. | A school does well with a Principal with vision and integrity. | ||

| Approachable and committed staff and deputies. School hasn't been affected by teacher shortage. Plenty of play areas for students. Seems to be a genuine push towards learning and discipline. Lots of programs on offer, like a breakfast club, strong choir, 'peer mediators' etc | Buildings and gardens in desperate need of improving. Strong school community with opinionated parents , but not a lot of parent support where needed. A couple of families/children drag the school down, but deputies seem to doing all they can. | Rates highly for me but I would like to see some of the riff raff dealt with (by parents)! My kids are happy here. | ||
